What makes a successful blog?
The answer is: personality.
Lyndon Antcliff of CornwallSEO.com put it best when he said: "What attracts people to blogs is more about the person behind the writing than the actual writing itself."
Sure, there are a lot of interesting things you could write about in your blog, but the real aspect of your blog that is going to make or break it's future is your personality. In your blog, you could report on news, review something new, talk about your daily life, write random nonsense, or even pretend to be somebody else. But none of that will matter - nothing you write about will interest anybody else - unless you add your own personality to each blog post.
Anybody could write about breaking news in their blog, it's their own unique thoughts and feelings about the news story that makes people want to read it.
There are billions and billions of product reviews out on the internet, but if you make your review unique in only a way that you can (maybe you're 89 years old and want to write a review about how easy it is to print using an HP printer) people will be interested. And they'll stay interested.
The real trick here is to stop writing what you think your readers want to read, and start writing whatever it is that you have to say.
Lyndon wrote such a great post over at the CornwallSEO Blog that if you REALLY want to know more about successful blogging, read his original article titled "Your Secret Blogging Weapon is You." and start blogging in your own words, with a little added flavor.
I'll say it again: if you want to be a legendary blogger, stop writing what you think your readers want to read, and start writing whatever it is that you have to say. That is the ultimate secret to becoming a great, successful blogger.
